Our Mindfulness-Meditation Program, designed by health professionals, is simple, clear, and easy to use. It contains no religious or philosophical elements so that anyone from any background will feel comfortable with its contents.
The impetus for this program began years ago when we began to realize the potential clinical benefit of Mindfulness. Our survey of available mindfulness-meditation programs revealed that many were expensive, complicated and often demanding. A fair number of the more accessible mindfulness-meditation programs were religious or philosophical in nature and conflicted with the lifestyles and beliefs of many potential users.
Our goal was to create a user-friendly mindfulness-meditation program that could be easily learned and practiced in the privacy and convenience of one’s own home or office. Unlike many other such programs, we wanted to apply a format that did not require an authoritative guide or a commitment to a special way of life in order to reap the benefits of meditation.
We methodically reviewed the work of Western researchers, such as Dr. Herbert Benson and Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, on the effectiveness of various forms of meditation. We then compared the methodology of leading schools of mindfulness/meditation, and extracted the main practice methods that each school had in common. We removed all religious and philosophical elements. Finally, we combined our complementary expertise in the fields of Psychology, Psychiatry, Functional Neuroanatomy, Marriage Therapy and Social Work to create a mindfulness-meditation system that is simple, straightforward and effective.
